The fresco of St. Romanus was discovered in the adjacent “Gebhard’s Chapel” in 1926. In 1964, it was removed from the chapel.

The depiction shows St. Romanus, who was the Bishop of Rouen.

The fresco dates from the mid-12th century.

Who was St. Romanus?
St. Romanus was the Bishop of Rouen in the 6th century. He was a scribe and clerical sage. He is known for his dedication to spreading Christianity and for his efforts to protect his people. He became a saint after his death.
